The game differs in several ways from the PS2 and handheld versions - the biggest being the behind view perspective, as opposed to the birds eye of the PS2 version, and the 'between the main story sections' gameplay in the Shire.

In game, the player takes control of Aragorn and fights off Sauron's servants.

These include orcs, trolls and other enemies.

Attacks include sword and bow moves.

With your shield, attacks can be blocked.

When playing as Sam's son in the Shire, you fulfill several main and side quests.

This mainly serves as a tutorial for practicing the different attacks and moves.

A second player can join the adventure as Gandalf or Sam's daughter Elanor.

About PlayStation 3

Released in 2006, the PlayStation 3 had a rocky start thanks to its high launch price but became known for its exclusive franchises and Blu-ray drive, which doubled as an early home theater upgrade for many households. PS3 collecting is still relatively young — most titles are inexpensive — but the console's digital PSN storefront closure risk has pushed more collectors toward physical copies specifically to preserve access.

Gamevaro tracks The Lord of the Rings: Aragorn's Quest for PlayStation 3 with separate market values for loose, complete-in-box (CIB) and factory-sealed copies, sourced from real eBay sales. Prices also vary by region — PAL, NTSC-U and NTSC-J releases of the same game often sell for different amounts due to print run sizes and regional collector demand.

Adding The Lord of the Rings: Aragorn's Quest to a Gamevaro collection takes seconds — search by title or scan the box barcode, and the app fills in cover art, release details and current pricing automatically. This PS3 release dates back to 2010.

Rarity & condition

Only a handful of market sales have been tracked for The Lord of the Rings: Aragorn's Quest, suggesting it doesn't trade hands very often — a sign of relative scarcity compared to more common PlayStation 3 titles.

Complete-in-box (CIB) copies typically command a premium over loose cartridges/discs because the original box and manual are more fragile and get discarded or damaged over time — fewer complete sets survive.
